
Better IR Heating for the Small Shop
Let’s be honest: most small-to-mid-sized coating shops get bullied by the price tags on high-end thermal gear. It feels like you either have to settle for slow equipment or sell a kidney to afford the “industry standard” brands. We built our infrared lamps to fix that. We want you to have the same heat density and curing speed as the giant plants, just without the ridiculous brand-name markup.
The science of getting it hot
Here’s the thing about curing ovens: it all comes down to how you move the heat. We stick with short-wave IR emitters because they actually punch through the coating deeper and faster than just blowing hot air around. By dialing in the wattage-to-length ratio, we make sure you don’t end up with those annoying cold spots. When you pack high wattage into a small footprint, your ramp-up time vanishes. Your cycle time drops. It’s fast. Really fast. One quick tip, though: that kind of intense heat is hard on your reflectors. Keep them polished. If they get dull, you’re basically throwing money (and energy) away.
The nuts and bolts
We use high-purity quartz glass for the tungsten filaments. Why? Because when things get screaming hot, cheap glass warps. Ours doesn’t. As for the connections, we keep it simple. We use standard R7s or Sk15 bases. That means these are basically plug-and-play for most oven racks. You can swap your old lamps for ours without having to tear apart your electrical panel or rewire the whole shop. And please, do yourself a favor: skip the cheap adapters. We’ve seen too many shops try to save a buck there, only to end up with a melted socket. Just stick to the rated voltage and you’re golden.
Making it work on your floor
Whether you’re running a spray booth or a drying tunnel, consistency is the only thing that matters. There’s nothing worse than pulling a piece out and seeing “orange peel” or a patch that didn’t cure. Our lamps keep the heat stable.
