It’s all about getting that heat spread out evenly across a big area without the guesswork. The Sweet Spot: Power and Size We went with 1200W stretched over 800mm because it hits a real sweet spot. You get a steady, consistent glow that doesn’t leave those annoying hot spots on your workpiece. Plus, we sized it to fit right into the standard industrial oven racks and PET blowing molds you’re probably already using. Because the power is spread out over nearly a meter, the current doesn’t spike. That means your filaments aren’t working overtime, so they won’t burn out nearly as fast as those shorter, high-wattage tubes. Why Quartz and Halogen? Here’s the secret sauce: quartz glass. It can take the brutal heat of a tungsten filament without warping or sagging. Inside, we use a halogen gas fill. Think of it as a self-cleaning cycle for your lamp. As the tungsten evaporates, the halogen gas pushes it right back onto the filament. It keeps everything thick and uniform. Without that, the filament would just thin out and snap, leaving you with a dead lamp and a stopped production line. And don’t worry about the setup. We use standard pinch-end connectors, so it’s basically a plug-and-play replacement for most IR heater banks. Just a quick tip: double-check that your wiring can handle the voltage. You don’t want any sparks at the terminals. A Couple of Things to Watch Out For The best part? This thing is fast. Like, “hit the switch and it’s hot in seconds” fast. But, because it’s 800mm long, it can be a bit delicate if your machinery shakes a lot. If you’ve got a lot of vibration in your shop, make sure your mounting clips are tight. You don’t want the quartz cracking because of a shaky motor. One last thing—take a look at your reflectors. If they’re off by even a few degrees, you’re basically throwing away 20% of your heat. A quick alignment check can save you a lot of wasted energy.
