
Getting Your Paint Cured Faster with Shortwave Halogen Lamps
Most ovens just heat up the air around the car, which takes forever. We do things differently. Our halogen lamps shoot concentrated infrared energy straight into the paint layers. It targets the solvents and pigments directly. The result? Your curing cycle speeds up and your booth clears out way faster. The heat side of things We’ve dialed in the wattage and voltage to hit that sweet spot of heat. If you’ve got the high-wattage tubes, you can flash-dry a clear coat in a matter of minutes. Just a heads-up: make sure the lamp length actually fits your panel. If it’s too short, you’ll end up with “cold spots” and an uneven finish. And be careful with the distance. If you crank the power but keep the lamp too close, you’re asking for scorched paint or those annoying solvent pops. Built to take the heat These things get incredibly hot, so we use high-purity quartz glass. It handles the thermal shock without cracking. We also add a special coating to the tubes. It shifts the emission spectrum so the heat goes exactly where it needs to. As for the setup, we use standard R7s or Sk15 connectors. They’re basically plug-and-play for most industrial rigs, so you won’t have to rewire your whole housing just to get them running. A few things to keep in mind The best part is the size. You get a massive amount of heat without taking up half your shop. But here’s the catch: you have to keep your reflectors spotless. A little bit of dust or paint overspray on the mirror can create hot spots that might actually burn out the tube. Also, keep an eye on your power. Voltage spikes are killers for these lamps. Instead of just flipping a hard on/off switch, I’d suggest using a dedicated controller. It lets you ramp the power up and down smoothly, which keeps the lamps alive much longer.
